## Philosophy

### Performance is a mindset

Whether your performance arena is in sport, business, entertainment or education, everyone can continually improve. Areté Performance will help you navigate a performance path that’s unique to who you are, where you’ve been and where you’re going.

## To Perform Is To Fully Express Your Abilities As An Individual Or Team Within Defining Moments.

How You Prepare For These Moments Determines Your Chance Of Success.

1. Tell us your individual or organisational goals, along with your constraints and we’ll help you find the possibilities within them.
2. Learn how to utilise your time and resources as effectively as possible, to make sure the odds are in your favour when working towards your goals.
3. Achieve your individual or organisational goals, then set new ones. We’ll help you repeat the process as many times as it takes for you to achieve your ultimate aims.

## About us

Areté was founded on the idea that sport and performance is about more than just numbers and outcomes. It's about shared journeys, the connections we make along the way and what we learn about ourselves in the process of setting and achieving (or not achieving) exciting goals.

At Areté, we believe that 'fulfilling your potential' is a personal journey and that 'performance' is the manifestation of your ever-developing potential, expressed within defining moments.

For decades, our founders have been committed to learning how people perform to their very best. More than that; we wanted to understand how the individuals and teams we work with could truly explore what 'performing to their best means to them. To discover how their development journey can be a personal one, that constantly chisels away at their limitations, while they step out into whichever performance arena it is that they choose to explore their potential, time and time again.

We have worked extensively in professional sport and academy sport, in both school sport and PE settings, with businesses, as well as with individuals within the corporate and entertainment sectors. We've coached Olympians, international footballers, international rugby players, fighters, tennis players, golfers, sprinters, and jumpers, amongst athletes from other sports. We deeply understand the sporting journey, from youth development to elite performance. We're also specialists at getting journeys back on track when they falter, with our holistic approach to rehabilitation.

Coach development is close to our heart as well; with coaches who have worked with us progressing from university on to some of the biggest leagues and organisations in the world, including; Premier League Football, Premiership Rugby, Team GB, Major League Baseball, Ultimate Fighting Championship, Championship Rugby, Major League Rugby and County Cricket.

Whether your journey with us is as an athlete, an individual, a team, business, school, or as a coach, we know we'll help you towards whichever goals we collectively agree on.

Welcome to Areté.

## What clients say

> As a coach firstly I think Tappers' knowledge is second to none, though this phrase gets thrown around too often I truly believe he is! He has a kind heart and will always think of his players/clients before any session commences. He is very easy to get on with and we would often discuss things unrelated to training and playing rugby which helped me develop as a person. The work we did helped to set the foundations for me to be able to kick on from a schoolboy to an international player. Training never felt like a chore and he would take time outside of club training to give me as much support and help as possible!
>
> — ELITE ATHLETE - JAMES HASKELL (RUGBY)

> Areté have been essential to my successful return to play after sustaining a repeated hip flexor/quad injury on the World Rugby 7s Series. They developed a rehab programme specifically for my recovery.
>
> — ISLA NORMAN-BELL (EALING TRAILFINDERS; OLY)

> Tom was a massive part of my ACL rehab. There was a clear plan and I came back feeling stronger in every other part of my body, not just the injured knee.
>
> — CHRISTIAN PULISIC (USA & A.C MILAN)

> Huge thanks to Areté Performance who helped me sharpen up as I stepped back into the Rugby world. They know me as a person and athlete and how to get me performing at my best.
>
> — CHRISTIAN WADE (BUFFALO BILLS; GLOUCESTER RUGBY)

> Upon signing for a new club in France, Montpellier, I wanted to make sure I was going over in the best form and condition I could be in. I had seen a lot of top players work with Areté such as Jack Willis and Henry Arundell and I knew that I could benefit from a new perspective. They carried out an extensive physical profile assessing where I was strong and areas I could look to develop. I think the environment was amazing — it's a special thing to be able to work with athletes from a variety of different sports and to be able to learn and train with them. Areté has a group of very experienced and knowledgeable coaches who created a challenging, stimulating but also a very playful environment which made training throughout the summer a very easy thing. They also spent a lot of time ensuring I understood the why, what and how of my training programme so I was better informed about the training modalities that would best suit my individual physical needs. Areté is an amazing service and I think many more athletes should be working with them to reach the highest level.
>
> — Lennox Anyanwu : Montpellier Rugby : Athlete Group

> I've had two stints with Areté Performance and both have been really beneficial for me. I've noticed a big improvement in my movement around the field and learnt various contact skills and techniques that I can add to my game. I've also been injury-free since working with them. They've got a great team, a really fun environment and it's always enjoyable coming in and training. Would definitely recommend Areté to any athlete looking to improve!
>
> — Jare Ogun : Glasgow Warriors : Athlete Group

> I came to Areté in a position where I was in theory cleared to play after having been out of action for 20 months. I had passed all my basic criteria and had been in full training for a few months, however I struggled performing on the pitch, was in daily pain and my body didn't allow me to do the movement and things I wanted to on the pitch. We broke it all down and started working on the little things which gave huge wins. Managed to return to performance and subsequently made my goal of being selected for the European championships.
>
> — Emma Wedervang : Sweden Rugby : Rehab Group

> I was coming back from a long-term injury and Areté helped me through the rehab process. The knowledge and guidance provided by the team there was incredibly valuable. The facility allowed me to discover areas I needed to improve on and the programming enabled me to make the progress desired. Special shoutout to Ryan and Jamie who looked after me and made the process enjoyable the whole way through!
